What is Artificial Cranial Deformation?
Among anthropologists, artificial cranial deformation is the practice of intentionally deforming the skull.  However, the growth of the skull may be artificially deformed by any external force.

There are numerous, well-known examples of cultural practice of intentionally cranial deformation (cf., Dingwall, 1931).  However, some method of deformation, such as cradle boarding, Whether the to include the deforming consequence of cradleboarding

 is artificially deformed... It is done by distorting the normal growth of a child's skull by applying an external force.
